What is Reiki?
Reiki is a non-invasive therapy that can be used on the whole body or on parts of the body. Reiki follows the principles of Dr Usui, Japanese healing, and channels energy “Qi” by gentle laying hands above or on body. I have trained in Usui Reiki, after becoming a Reiki Master I trained in Karuna, I use both techniques in my treatments to channel healing.
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word representing Universal Life Energy, the energy which is all around us. Reiki, when activated and applied for purposes of healing, is said to addresses body, mind and spirit. Reiki is also said to accelerates the body's ability to heal physical ailments and open the mind and spirit to the cause of disease and pain, the necessity for taking responsibility for one's life and the joys of balanced wellness.
Healing through touch is the oldest and simplest of all the therapies available to us. The act of laying on of hands to comfort, heal and relieve pain conveys warmth, caring and affection. It is an act of love and requires no special faith or belief. Reiki is used by people of many faiths and religions.
In the western world our healing skills have been neglected or forgotten and we have given up the power to heal ourselves. At a time when the pace of life is becoming faster and demands on our bodies becoming greater, many of the ancient natural healing therapies are being rediscovered.

Before a Reiki treatment a short medical history will be taken. The treatment normally takes place lying down on a couch, but can be given in a chair. No clothes are removed for the treatment, but if you are lying down you may prefer to remove your shoes for comfort. The treatment involves resting hands lightly on your body in set positions. Each position is held for approximately 5 minutes.
Most people experience a sensation of either warmth, cold, or tingling under the hands, some people see colours, generally accompanied by a general feeling of relaxation and well-being.
Allow an hour per treatment, shorter or longer treatments also available. A course of treatments may be recommended over a period of time.
